Oklahoma state Rep. Dean Davis arrested in Bricktown on public drunkenness complaint

Oklahoma City police arrested state Rep. Dean Davis early Thursday because he was suspected of being drunk in public.

He was booked into the Oklahoma County jail at 3:46 a.m. on the municipal complaint, records show. He was released at 5:19 a.m. on his own recognizance.

Police officers made contact with Davis about 2:15 a.m. in Bricktown, a well-known entertainment area near downtown Oklahoma City.

After a vote Thursday afternoon, Davis, 50, said on the House floor that he disputes any wrongdoing.

"However, I do want to take this opportunity to apologize to this body for creating this unnecessary distraction from the important work of the House."

Davis, R-Broken Arrow, was elected in 2018 and was unopposed in 2020 and 2022.

He pleaded no contest last September in Tulsa County District Court to driving while impaired, a misdemeanor. He also pleaded no contest to speeding and obstructing a police officer.

He was put on probation for six months and paid more than $1,700 in court assessments, fees and costs, records show.

He was charged after a 2019 traffic stop in Broken Arrow.
