Oklahoma State softball tops Minnesota, posts third straight shutout
The second-ranked Oklahoma State softball team earned its third straight shutout at the OSU Mizuno Classic with a 6-0 victory over Minnesota on Saturday at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater.
Senior right-hander Lexi Kilfoyl got got her seventh start in the circle for Oklahoma State (24-2) and struck out nine as she tossed the whole game against the Golden Gophers (19-4).
Chyenne Factor drove in Katelynn Carwile in the second inning for OSU's first run, and the Cowgirls pulled away with a five-run fifth inning.
Micaela Wark provided the main highlight, blasting a three-run homer.
The Cowgirls have been strong starters throughout the year, scoring first in 19 games. They're 18-1 in those contests.
OSU will conclude the OSU Mizuno Classic with a game against UCF at noon Sunday.

Oklahoma State baseball evens series against Texas Tech
The 12th-ranked Oklahoma State baseball team defeated No. 22 Texas Tech 9-4 Saturday at Rip Griffin Park in Lubbock, Texas, evening the series at one game apiece.
OSU hit four homers as Tyler Wulfert led the Cowboys with two, while Nolan McLean and Roc Riggio each had one.
Ben Abram started on the mound and earned the win after allowing just one run in six innings. Abram, who improved to 3-0 on the season, struck out six.
The series finale is set for 2 p.m. Sunday.

GOLF: Adam Schenk never looked like he would be leading the Valspar Championship until his final putt. Schenk made a 5-foot birdie for a 70. That gives him a one-shot lead over Jordan Spieth and Tommy Fleetwood as he goes for his first PGA Tour win. Spieth looked to be in control for so much of the round at Innisbrook. But with five birdies and an eagle came plenty of mistakes. Spieth took his fifth bogey of the day on the 18th hole for a 69. Fleetwood was just the opposite. He had 16 pars and two birdies for a 69.
NFL: The Kansas City Chiefs added two more pieces to their rapidly evolving defense Friday by agreeing to terms with former Buccaneers safety Mike Edwards III and former Chargers linebacker Drue Tranquill on one-year deals, the Associated Press reported. ... The Baltimore Ravens re-signed running back Justice Hill and safety Geno Stone. Hill ran for 262 yards in 15 games last season and also had 12 receptions. The former OSU standout missed the entire 2021 season because of an Achilles tendon injury.
