Oklahoma State stays undefeated with win over Texas Tech. See key stats from the game

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State is undefeated, but getting there was not exactly easy.

The seventh-ranked Cowboys survived an upset bid by Texas Tech, rallying for a 41-31 win Saturday evening at Boone Pickens Stadium.

OSU is now 5-0 and 2-0 in Big 12 play entering next week’s showdown at TCU, another team undefeated in conference play.

Cowboys going streaking

24-23-1: The series record between OSU and Texas Tech, with the Cowboys breaking the tie behind the victory. OSU is 14-8 at home against the Red Raiders.

5-0: Start for the Cowboys for the second straight season and sixth time in the Mike Gundy era.

7: Straight Big 12 wins in the regular season for the Cowboys, which is tied for the third-longest streak in program history. It’s the longest streak since Oct. 1-Nov. 16, 2016.

18: Likely straight weeks ranked in the top 15 of the Associated Press poll for the Cowboys, who entered the game at No. 7. It would set a new program record.

Spencer Sanders moves up charts

29: Career wins for OSU quarterback Spencer Sanders, moving him into second place in program history. He passed Gundy, who won 28 straight. Mason Rudolph holds the record with 32 career wins.

657: Career completions for Sanders, moving him to third all-time in program history. He again passed his head coach on the list. Sanders completed 22 of 45 passes for 297 yards and a touchdown.

115: Receiving yards for sophomore Bryson Green, a career high. He caught five passes and scored a touchdown.

3: Rushing touchdowns for the Cowboys, including two by Sanders. OSU ran for 137 yards and averaged 3.3 yards per carry.

Cowboys’ defense struggles, finds way

62: First-half plays by Texas Tech, while the Cowboys ran only 37. The Red Raiders averaged 5.6 yards per play and had the ball for 19:02 in the half.

42: Second-half plays by the Red Raiders. After they took a 31-23 lead with 8:42 remaining in the third, they still had a considerable lead over the Cowboys in plays, 70-48. Texas Tech averaged 4.3 yards per play in the half.

4: Fourth-down conversions by the Red Raiders. OSU did not get a stop on fourth down until 9:39 remained in the game when Collin Clay and Sean Michael Flanagan stopped SaRodorick Thompson short on fourth-and-2. Texas Tech finished 4 of 7 on fourth down.

379: Passing yards for Texas Tech redshirt freshman Behren Morton, who was a surprise starter for the Red Raiders. He completed 39 of 62 passes, throwing for two TDs.

1: Pass by Texas Tech quarterback Donovan Smith, who did not start. The pass was batted down near the goal line by Trace Ford. Smith also played multiple snaps at slot receiver.

Honoring a legend

55: The number retired in honor of Cowboys legend Bob Fenimore at halftime. The Cowboys entered the stadium wearing jerseys to honor Fenimore and then played with a commemorative patch on their jerseys.
