Oklahoma's $1 million Powerball prize claimed in Edmond

The search is over - the $1 million winning Powerball ticket sold in Oklahoma has been claimed.

Though a Californian won the $1.76 billion Powerball jackpot Oct. 13, an Oklahoman won $1 million in the Powerball drawing, and now, he's come forward to claim the prize.

On Monday, Oklahoma Lottery officials announced that the Powerball ticket was purchased by Richard, an Edmond resident, at the OnCue located at 1001 N. Portland Ave. in Oklahoma City.

He is Oklahoma Lottery’s 80th millionaire, officials said in a press release, and Richard says that he plans to put the winnings toward his retirement.

Since its launch, the Oklahoma Lottery has generated more than $1.26 billion in funds that have been given to the Oklahoma Education Lottery Trust Fund. As sales continue to grow, the Oklahoma Lottery is able to increase the contributions that benefit students and teachers across the State of Oklahoma.
