Oktoberfest at Oak Island

Celebrate Oktoberfest in September at the Lonerider, noon-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at 5710 57th Place West, Oak Island. Some events that will be taking place will be the Stein holding competition, Hammerschlagen competition. Prizes for the winners.

Beers: Oktoberfest (Viggo) and German Style Hefeweizen (Betty), also featuring traditional beers from Germany — Paulaner, Hacker Pschorr, Franziskaner, Augustiner, Weihenstephan. Also Bourbon and Original Outlaw cigars.

Leland's Live at the Park

The town of Leland is excited to bring back a family favorite this fall — Live at the Park. Kicking off the first free concert will be the Carolina Soul Band performing beach, Motown, R&B. The concert begins at 6:30 p..m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at Founders Park, 113 Town Hall Drive. Food truck on site, picnics/coolers welcomed. Bring a blanket and/or chair. No smoking. Alcohol and pets are not allowed.

Shallotte SummerFest Concert

Summerfest, hosted by the town of Shallotte, begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at Mulberry Park, 123 Mulberry St. The Tonez performs beach, dance, and rock music.

LunaSea at the Beach

LunaSea, a seven-piece rock and soul party band, will be performing at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at Middleton Park, 4610 E Dolphin Drive, Oak Island.

Movie in the Park in Leland

Returning to the town of Leland for the fall, will be movies in the park. Showning on Saturday, Sept. 24 will be "Luca." The free movie will begin at sunset and will be held at Founders Park, 113 Town Hall Drive. Food truck on site, picnics/coolers welcomed. Bring a blanket and/or chair. No smoking. Alcohol and pets are not allowed

Exhibit at Franklin Square Gallery

The Members’ Show consists of seven rooms of paintings and pottery created by over 100 artists of the Associated Artists of Southport. Works are done in a wide variety of styles, mediums, and sizes including a mini gallery, featuring paintings smaller than 9” x 12”.

Prints, cards, and gift items also are available. The show will run until Monday, Oct. 17.
