Oktoberfest returns to Kent with music, food and beer

Main Street Kent celebrated German beer, food and culture as its Oktoberfest returned to downtown Saturday.

The day featured dancing, music, food trucks and, of course, beer. Each of Kent's three breweries — Bell Tower Brewing Co., MadCap Brew Co., and North Water Brewing — offered a beer at one of the three beer trucks at the festival, alongside German brewer Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu's Spaten Oktoberfest Ur-Märzen beer.

Local eateries such as Erie Street Kitchen, the Pierogi Lady and Daisy Pops served specially prepared German food and local treats. The Kent Fire Department also sold food as a department fundraiser, with all products donated by Giant Eagle.

Live entertainment, including the German Family Society Youth Dancers, performed at the Hometown Bank Plaza throughout the day.
