OKWU hot hitters lead to Southwestern loss Tuesday

The Oklahoma Wesleyan University baseball team improved to 29-7 on the season after stomping Southwestern 15-4 at the OKWU field in Bartlesville on Tuesday.

The Eagles struck early in the second inning with a Jesus Rojas home run. Drenis Ozuna homered in the third inning.

OKWU second baseman Tommy Davis led offensively with a single, double, triple and six runs batted in.

Other hot hitters included Jordyn Smith, Aaron Gerdes and A’Darius Council all with doubles. Ozuna, Rojas and Council all had two runs batted in with Nicholas Chavez getting one run batted in.

The Eagles used four pitches against Southwestern, with Tucker Grote getting the win. Also pitching was Klayton Coffman, Carson Frazier and Erick Nova.

OKWU played three games over the weekend at Bethany (KS), winning all three by a landslide.

The Eagles scored nine runs in the fourth inning in their Friday 27-8 victory over Bethany. Pitcher Evan Foor picked up the win.

On Saturday, the Eagles won the first game 14-1 on sixteen hits. Michael Mendoza was the winning Eagle pitcher. The second game was also 14-1 with Eagle’s pitcher Frazier picking up the win.

Next up for the Eagles is a  2 p.m. home game Friday against Kansas Wesleyan. They meet again on Saturday at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
