MOUNT SOLON — Nashville-based Old Crow Medicine Show will headline the 10th annual Red Wing Roots Music Festival this summer at Natural Chimneys Park.

The Grammy-winning Americana, folk music group is probably best know for "Wagon Wheel," although they've been together since 1998. The group is scheduled to perform in Roanoke and Norfolk later this month, but the show in Mount Solon in June will be the final Virginia appearance on their tour this year according to the group's website.

The Red Wing Roots Music Festival announced its full lineup of performers Friday for the event scheduled June 23-25. In addition to Old Crow Medicine Show, The Steel Wheels will perform and host the event once again this year.

Other artists announced are the Robert Randolph Band, Watchhouse, Sierra Ferrell, and 2023 Grammy performer and award-winner of the Best Folk Album, Madison Cunningham.

The press release from event organizers said that more than 50 artists are scheduled to appear across five stages for Red Wing X, including The Suffers, Marc Broussard, The Lil Smokies and John Craigie.

“Red Wing fosters music exploration," said Managing Partner and Co-Founder Jeremiah Jenkins of the event that began in 2013. "From our youth academy to the diversity we seek in our lineup — promoting both award-winning artists, as well as new and emerging musicians — Red Wing hopes to cultivate new musical exploration for our patrons each year.”

Jenkins thanked Natural Chimney Park and Augusta County, as well as fans of the festival, for their support.

"We look forward to doing this with you all for many more years to come," Jenkins said.

Red Wing will host food vendors, including options for craft beer, cider, and wine in the Blue Mountain Beer Gardens, the release said. Outdoor activities include organized bike rides and group runs, as well as morning yoga sessions beneath the rock towers at Natural Chimneys Park.

Shady Grove, the festival’s kid zone, features a climbing wall, organized and informal games, slack lines, and a mist tent for cooling down during the hot summer days.

The release said that while several camping passes are already sold out, there are still options remaining for tent camping, small RV/car camping, and Red Wing Glamping, a luxury tenting option.

Currently three-day festival tickets are on sale, but the release said they are moving quickly. Single day tickets will be made available for purchase later in the spring.
