Old Dominion Freight Line eyes high-profile Concord site for $18M, 100-job project

It appears another investment could be on the way at the former Philip Morris site in Concord.

Concord City Council is set to consider incentives for a proposed project from Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. at its meeting on Thursday, documents show. Old Dominion Freight Line is considering an investment of $18 million to establish an approximately 60,000-square-foot interstate motor freight terminal at 2980 New Town Way SW. The site is part of The Grounds at Concord, the massive industrial park at the site of the former cigarette plant.

The proposed project would create around 100 jobs at an average annual wage of about $80,000 for salaried workers and average hourly wages of about $25 to $30, records show.

The site targeted by Old Dominion Freight Line neighbors the parcel that’s home to the large beverage manufacturing campus being established at The Grounds by Red Bull, Rauch North America and Ball Corp.
