During the "Barbie" movie, the title character, played by Margot Robbie, sits on a park bench and has a little talk with an elderly worman.

Which has prompted a lot of fans of the hit movie to ask, "Who is that old lady in 'Barbie'?"

That old lady is a Hollywood legend, a costume designer whose career has spanned six decades: two-time Oscar winner Ann Roth.

Ann Roth's York County connections

Roth is from Hanover, Pa., growing up on West Hanover Street near her father's and uncle's jewelry shop on York Street. From Hanover, she eventually wound up in Hollywood, designing costumes for some of the most iconic movies of all time, winning Oscars for her work in "The English Patient" in 1996 and "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" in 2020.

In a recent New York Times article, she says, “Do NOT call me amazing. Do NOT call me a 91-year-old legend. Do NOT call me the oldest person in the ‘Barbie’' movie."
