After more than two years, things finally seem to be getting back on track for Chef Joe Zolnierowski. He has expanded Old Pueblo Grill, his restaurant in the Neighborhood of the Arts, and is on track to fully reopen in late June. And work has finally resumed on a new location in the HighPoint development across from Eastview Mall in Victor. But if he’s learned anything since 2020, it’s to not to get too confident. “You never know,” he said. “Just when you think things are going right, everything's going wrong.”

#SaltyBreadPizzeria

A new eatery opened last week in Irondequoit, across from Seabreeze Amusement Park. Salty Bread Pizza Café on Culver Road offers a variety of pizza — including salty French bread pizza, served on Amazing Grains Bread Co.’s salty bread. The restaurant also serves paninis, soups, salads and a variety of desserts (cronuts, cookies, croissants and whoopie pies). Irondequoit has a lot of pizzerias, but the salty-bread variety “differentiates us from any other pizza shop anywhere near here,” said Paul Padoleski, who owns the business with his wife, Laura.

#BookStoreClosing

Barnes & Noble@RIT, the 46,000-square-foot retail anchor of the Park Point development at Rochester Institute of Technology in Henrietta, is closing for good on June 17, and a going-out-of-business sale is underway. Books and art and school supplies have been marked down 75%. Beginning with the fall term, RIT will launch a virtual bookstore in partnership with Akademos, a Norwalk, Connecticut-based company that provides online bookstore services for colleges and universities. Beyond catering to students, faculty and staff, the Park Point complex had ambitions of becoming a community destination. There is no new tenant waiting in the wings for the B&N space. RIT said it’s reviewing its needs for a possible future use.

See you Tuesday.
