Old Rochester boys, girls enjoy sweep at South Coast Conference track championship meet
The Old Rochester boys and girls track teams took home their respective South Coast Conference championships during Thursday's conference meet at Apponequet.
Even though the high jump wasn't competed on Thursday, both teams were well enough ahead for the top honor. The girls were 48 points in front of second-place Case while the boys were 21 points ahead of second-place Wareham.
Winning for the Bulldogs were Leo Schiappa in the 100 (11.34), Murray Copps in the mile (4:37.85) and Colby Gross in the 200 (23.11) as well as the 4x800 relay team (8:59.47).
Old Rochester girls got a pair of wins from Julia Sheridan and Jen Williams. Sheridan was first in both the javelin (106-02) and 400 (1:01.20) while Williams won the long jump (16-08) and 100 hurdles (15.62).
The Bulldogs also got wins from Hanna Walley in the mile (5:39.79) and Madison Conner in the 800 (2:32.12) as well as the 4x400 team of Jillian LeBlanc, Cameran Weaver, Anna Dube and Elizabeth Feeney.
For Wareham, Garrett Goodman took first in the shot put (48-05.75) and discus (148-08) while Gabriel Silva won the 400 (52.89) and Aiden Robert was fastest in the 110 hurdles (15.72). The Vikings also won the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
Apponequet’s Logan Miller won the javelin (180-07) while Jackson Gagnier was fastest in the 400 hurdles (1:01.18). Emma Marra took first in the 200 (27:32).
Voc-Tech’s lone win came from Hugo Pires at the long jump (40-00).
