Old Rochester boys, girls are the top dogs in the South Coast Conference

Old Rochester boys and girls teams both finished first at the South Coast Conference track and field championship on Saturday night at GNB Voc-Tech. GNB Voc-Tech boys and Apponequet girls were second.

Audrey Thomas won the 300 (45.50) and came in second in the 55 (7.90) to pace the ORR girls. Alexia Gonsalves won the 2-mile (12:55.24) and came in third in the mile (5:53.00) while Madison Conner took first in the 1,000 (3:23.81). Delilah Post was second in the 600 (1:53.26).

Murray Copps and Tyler Young were strong for ORR in distance events. Copps won the mile (4:51.49) and came in second in the 2-mile (10:57.62) behind Young’s first place time of 10:49.43. Young came in second in the mile (4:52.14).

Other top finishers for the Bulldogs were Sam Balsis in the 55 hurdles (third; 8.36) and high jump (fourth; 5-7), Philip leGassick in the 300 (third; 39.47), Nolan Bushnell in the 1,000 (second; 2:51.56), Torsten Brickley in the 1,000 (third; 2:53.44), Jackson Veugen in the 2-mile (10:58.26) and the 4x400 relay team (second; 3:57.70).

The Voc-Tech boys won seven out of 10 events. Winning events for the Bears were Jarred Quann in the 55 (6.78) and 300 (39.25), Owen Viera in the 55 high hurdles (7.95), Nathan Fernandes in the 600 (1:30.90), Danial Ward in the 1,000 (2:47.73), Justin Andrade in the high jump (5-9) and the 4x400 team of Fernandes, Jordon Perez, Viera and Ward (3:52.4).

For the GNB Voc-Tech girls, Miya Barboza won the 600 (1:49.30), Madalyn Duarte won the mile (4:38.10) and took third in high jump (4-10), Nevaeh Escobar was third in the 1,000 (3:35.35), and the 4x400 relay of Emily Antao, Escobar, Barboza and Duarte came in first.

The Apponequet girls were led by Reagan Flynn in the 55 (first; 7.65) and 300 (third; 46.71), Isabella Sergio in the 1,000 (second; 3:33.86) and Madeline Polochick in the 2-mile (second; 12:59.12) as well as the 4x400 relay team (second; 4:49.50).

The Apponequet got strong performances from Brian Vale in the 600 (second; 1:32.30), Aydan Fournier in the mile (second; 4:51.61) and Justin Serrecchia in the 55 (third; 6.86).

Earning medals for the Wareham girls were Alexis Pettersen in the 55 hurdles (sixth; 10.24), Sienna Cabe in the 55 hurdles (first; 9.70), Jayla Fernandes in the 300 (fifth; 47.55), Fredi Gakidis in the high jump (fourth; 4-6), Marina Cadena in the shot put (third; 33-11.5) and the 4x400 team of Alexis Pettersen, Lain Potter, Laura Clements andAlex Bumpus (sixth; 5:21.90).

The Wareham boys were led by Gabe Silva in the 55 dash (second; 6.82) and 300 (second; 39.34) and Aidan Robert in the 55 hurdles (second; 8.21).

Fairhaven’s top finishers were Laura Hubert in the 55 dash (fourth; 7.97) and high jump (second; 4-10), Sophia Fleurent in the high jump (tied for fourth; 4-6), Toby Lawrence in the 55 (fourth; 6.86) and Nate Branco in the high hurdles (sixth; 8.55).
