Ole Miss basketball lands commitment from Georgetown transfer Brandon Murray

OXFORD — Chris Beard has received his first transfer commitment since taking over as Ole Miss basketball's new coach.

Georgetown transfer guard Brandon Murray announced his intent to play for the Rebels on Monday after visiting campus over the weekend. Listed at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, Murray started 27 games for the Bulldogs last season and finished as their second-leading scorer with 13.7 points per game. He also chipped in with 3.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists, shooting 39.7% from the floor and 31.8% from 3-point range.

Murray, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining, began his career at LSU in 2021-22, and was named to the SEC's All-Freshman team after posting 10 points per game.

He's also a gifted dunker, throwing down one of the best dunks of last season in a game against Villanova.

The 247Sports Composite ranked Murray as a four-star prospect and the No. 82 overall recruit in the 2021 class. The native of Germantown, Maryland, played his high school basketball at IMG Academy in Florida.
