Ole Miss basketball leading scorer Matthew Murrell returns from injury vs. Vanderbilt
Ole Miss basketball received a much-needed bit of good news Saturday morning, when a team spokesperson announced that the Rebels would get Matthew Murrell back for a noon clash at Vanderbilt.
Murrell had missed the previous three games for Ole Miss (9-13, 1-8 SEC) because of a right knee injury. All three of those contests ended in defeat for the Rebels, who haven't won two consecutive games since November.
Especially with Murrell back in the fold, the Rebels will view a trip to Vanderbilt (10-12, 3-6) as an opportunity to get back in the win column. The Commodores suffered a 101-44 drubbing at the hands of Alabama in their last time out.

Murrel averages 14.9 points per game on 39% shooting and also chips in 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest. His return will also ease the stress on Ole Miss freshman guards Amaree Abram and TJ Caldwell, who have been thrust into the spotlight after Daeshun Ruffin announced he was stepping away from the program last week.
