Ole Miss football announces former Arkansas assistant Sam Carter as cornerbacks coach

OXFORD — Ole Miss football has officially announced the hire of Sam Carter as its next cornerbacks coach.

Carter is an up-and-coming commodity in the coaching ranks, having spent the last two years as cornerbacks coach at Arkansas. Prior to Arkansas he was a quality control assistant and defensive analyst at Missouri. He played safety at TCU from 2011-14, starting 39 games.

In his final game as a college player, Carter faced Ole Miss in the 2014 Peach Bowl, making three tackles.

Carter replaced Terrell Buckley, who coached cornerbacks at Ole Miss the last two seasons but was not retained.

Ole Miss has officially hired four assistant coaches this offseason. Carter joins co-offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr., co-defensive coordinator Chris Kiffin and running backs coach Marquel Blackwell as the new Rebels' hires.
