Ole Miss football recruiting class 2023: Meet Rebels' early signees for Lane Kiffin
OXFORD — Ole Miss football's early signing period arrived with some drama, but probably not the kind Ole Miss fans were hoping to see.
Lane Kiffin and the Rebels lost their third verbal commitment over the last three days on Wednesday, when edge-rusher Neeo Avery signed with Maryland instead of the Rebels.
Eleven players had signed their National Letters of Intent to play for Kiffin in Oxford next season as of Wednesday afternoon, headlined by two key in-state signees: Suntarine Perkins and Ayden Williams. Ole Miss announced the signing of three-star WR Cayden Lee the following day.
Perkins, in particular, had been the subject of much speculation recently, with Alabama pushing for his signature, too.
At present, Ole Miss has the smallest high school recruiting class in the SEC by a wide margin. But Kiffin said he's far from done.
“There’s still work being done,” Kiffin said. “I think this is a strange signing time, once we switched to the early (period) so it’s not your full class. There’s guys potentially to sign later (Wednesday) or on normal signing day, plus there’s so many transfers − some already coming here and a lot we’re still working on.”
