The U.S. video streaming service acquired the rights to screen the film in early February, but did not disclose the date of the premiere at that time.

Rhino is the first Ukrainian feature film to be shown on Netflix. Prior to that, the platform broadcasted the documentary Home Games, by Ukrainian director Alisa Kovalenko, as well as comedy TV series Servant of the People, star-ring President Volodymyr Zelensky in his prior career as a comedian.

Rhino is the second full-length work by Sentsov, which delves into the criminal underworld of ‘90s Ukraine and a man nicknamed “Rhino”, who becomes immersed in it.

The world premiere of the film took place at the 78th Venice International Film Festival, and took part in the official Horizons competition. In Ukraine, the film premiered during the Kyiv Critics' Week.
