Olentangy Schools: Libby Wallick chosen to replace Mindy Patrick on school board

Libby Wallick was sworn in as the newest member of the Olentangy Schools Board of Education during the board’s June 23 meeting.

Wallick, a Powell resident, was selected from a pool of 27 applicants to fill the seat of Mindy Patrick, who resigned from the board as her family is moving outside the school district boundaries.

“The combination of her deep academic background and extensive work in the community made Dr. Wallick a strong pick to fill the open seat on the board,” board president Ken O’Brien said.

“I am humbled to have been selected from a pool of highly qualified and talented candidates whom I hope to see run in 2023,” Wallick said in a prepared statement.

Wallick will serve the rest of Patrick’s term, which expires Dec. 31, 2023.

“My husband, three daughters and I moved to Powell almost five years ago. We intentionally sought out the Olentangy Local School District for its commitment to academic excellence and the many opportunities my daughters would be afforded,” Wallick told ThisWeek. “Since moving here, I have served on the OLSD redistricting committee and the Olentangy Education Foundation. Having taught in both K-12 and higher education, I have a strong commitment to a rigorous and inclusive curriculum. I recognize and do not take lightly the responsibility of governing the fourth-largest school district in the state and serving our stakeholders.”

O’Brien thanked the applicants and said he hopes “they will further their interest and get involved on committees with the board.”
