Olga's Kitchen honors International Women's Day with free Snackers

International Women's Day is Wednesday and Olga's Kitchen locations across metro Detroit are celebrating the day with free Olga Snackers with any purchase.

Olga's Kitchen rewards members can redeem the free Snackers offer on the restaurant's mobile app. You can also join the rewards program online at olgas.com. The free snackers are offered for dine-in, delivery or carryout.

The local chain is known for its famous Olga bread that's also used to make Snackers. Olga's Snackers are Olga bread cut into triangles and then seasoned. The Olga Snackers are served with spreadable cheese.

Olga's Kitchen, operated by Livonia-based TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants, also announced that its Olga Loizon Memorial Foundation grant application for women entrepreneurs is open. In honor of Olga's founder Olga Loizon, the fund issues grants of up to $10,000 for women building a business in Michigan. The fund awarded grants in 2022 to Sticky Spoons Jam LLC and U-Plant Landscape designs LLC totaling $20,000.

In 1970, Olga Loizon founded the Olga's Kitchen chain and created the famed Olga bread.  She died in January 2019 at age 92.

March is Women's History Month and International Women's Day has been celebrated since the early 1900s. In 1977, the United Nations officially recognized the day according to internationalwomensday.com.

Each year there is a theme for the day. This year, the theme for International Women's Day is "Embrace Equity" promoting equality as a goal.
