Ollie's Bargain Outlet opening first Middlesex County store
A store that has “Good Stuff Cheap” is coming to Middlesex County.
Ollie's Bargain Outlet is scheduled to open at 9 a.m. Feb. 22 at 1043 Route 9 North, Suite 2, in Old Bridge Plaza next to Kohl’s in the former Pathmark.
Ollie’s offers closeout merchandise and excess inventory at discounted prices, according to its website. The store boasts thousands of bargains all under one roof and that shoppers can save up to 70% off the fancy stores' prices on name-brand merchandise, the website says.
The merchandise runs the gamut from housewares to sporting goods to flooring and to food.
Ollie’s buyers scour the world looking for closeouts, overstocks, package changes, manufacturer refurbished goods and irregulars, the website says, adding much of the merchandise comes direct from the finest manufacturers in the country and abroad.

Ollie’s has also worked very closely with financial institutions. When companies are liquidated, the banks will often sell remaining inventories and turn them into cash. Ollie’s will buy the goods back and pass the savings on to customers, the website says.
The first Ollie's Bargain Outlet opened in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, on July 29, 1982, the website says. It was founded by Mark Butler, Mort Bernstein, Oliver "Ollie" Rosenberg and Harry Coverman. A second location opened in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in October 1982. The business has continued to grow.
Ollie's is now America's largest retailer of closeout merchandise and excess inventory with 468 stores in 29 states, including in Bridgeton, Cherry Hill, Deptford, Egg Harbor Township, Hamilton,Lawrence Township and Toms River, the website says.
