Olympian Lolo Jones sets the record straight on her love life: ‘Trust me, I get plenty of dates’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Olympic star Lolo Jones is setting the record straight about her love life.

Speaking with the Daily News at the 2023 ESPY awards, the 40-year-old athlete candidly responded to public criticism surrounding her relationship status.

“They just really don’t understand why I’m still single. They don’t get it. And then they’ll attack me. Like ‘Maybe there’s something wrong with her.’ Or they’re confused and think ‘Why can’t she get a date?’ Trust me, I get plenty of dates.”

The self-professed Bumble user is hoping to swipe right into her happily ever after, but notes that following the pandemic people “forgot how to date.”

“We were locked up for months,” she said on the ESPYs red carpet. “We’re tired of being on dating apps.”

Jones has been very open about her commitment to wait until marriage to have sex, which she revealed in a 2012 tweet. She later told Kevin Hart on his Cold As Balls Podcast that being so candid about her decision “was a mistake.”

However, the sports star pushed forward with her family pursuits by freezing her eggs via in vitro fertilization in 2022, documenting her fertility journey on social media.

With the help of the IVF treatments, she told Good Morning America, 27 eggs were retrieved, 17 of which are viable for fertilization in the future.

The process was no small feat for Jones, and she admits neither is being a virgin and single at 40.

“I can’t even give you a lie. It’s hard. It is very hard being single especially the older you get, especially if you’re a woman in her childbearing years. It is very tough.”

She continued “They say at 27 you’re washed, at 30 you’re a grandma. I’m like, well dang, I’m 40, great-grandma.”

But the sports star says she won’t settle until she finds the “right one.”

“When you’re looking for someone to marry you’re not just trying to date anybody. You want quality. You want to have a good vibe and chemistry with them, so that’s tougher.”

And when asked what advice she’d give to her fellow single sisters out there she responded with “Tom Brady is now single,” she jokingly reassured. “I’m just trying to give people hope. Literally, the person you thought was taken might not be taken at 40, 45.”
