Lena Hentschel, who won the bronze medal for Germany at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, will join the Ohio State diving team, the school said.

Hentschel and partner Tina Punzel took bronze in the synchronized 3m springboard event with a score of 284.97.

Hentschel won gold in the 3m synchro at the 2020 European Aquatics Championships. She won silver at the 2018 event.

At the FINA Diving Grand Prix, the Berlin native won the 3m synchro gold at the Leg 1 event in 2018. She picked up bronze medals in the mixed 3m synchro in 2019 and the women’s 3m synchro later in 2018.

“We are very excited to add Lena to our roster this fall," OSU coach Justin Sochor said. "She is a powerful and athletic diver who comes with a wealth of international experience and successes. She is also a dedicated student-athlete and has a sweet and supportive personality that makes her a great teammate and addition to our Buckeye diving family.”
