Shawn Johnson East, the West Des Moines native who traded leotards for a new life in Nashville, captured hearts and attention after clinching four medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Now, nearly 15 years after the summer games, Iowa's golden girl is all grown up and opening up with The Des Moines Register about raising babies with her husband Andrew, bringing realness to social media, their hit podcast, and a possible return to reality TV. From Beijing, China to Nashville, Tennessee, the Valley High School alum has always shown love for Iowa.
These days, the Olympic gold medalist balances a busy schedule raising two toddlers while tending to an ever-growing following on social media platforms – like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube – instead of tumbling on the balance beam.

In the wide-ranging update with the Des Moines Register, Johnson East and her ex-NFL player husband opened up about possibly returning to the format with an adventurous reality competition show appearance. The pair are each reality television alums: Johnson East has competed on "Dancing with the Stars" twice, CNBC's now-cancelled series "Adventure Capitalists," pre-presidency Donald Trump-led "Celebrity Apprentice" and appeared on other shows. East has competed twice on the NBC audience favorite "American Ninja Warrior."

“We have had to say no to it in the past because of babies, which has been so hard, but hopefully they come back and ask us to be on another season," Johnson East said of her potential reality career reboot.
