Olympic Heights football finds head coach in Suncoast, Cardinal Newman ex-coach Brian Pulaski

Palm Beach County's first coaching vacancy of the offseason has been filled according to Olympic Heights football's new hire Brian Pulaski.

The former coach at Suncoast and Cardinal Newman confirmed that he was named the Lions' new head coach on Friday after Olympic Heights' administration announced earlier in the month that the program would be parting ways with Brandon Knight.

What to know

Suncoast was the last Palm Beach County program to have Pulaski on the sideline as head coach after he was let go by Cardinal Newman in 2017.

The Chargers finished 3-7 in Pulaski's lone season at Suncoast before longtime coach Jimmy Clark returned for a second stint at the helm.

However, the highlights of Pulaski's resume come from his five years at Newman. He led the Crusaders for two seasons and compiled a record of 10-9, but he set 13 school records in the three previous seasons when he served as defensive coordinator.

Before Pulaski was promoted from interim head coach in 2016, Newman finished 1-9 and was 0-2 in district play. In Pulaski's first year, the Crusaders went 5-5, 2-1 in districts, and returned to the state playoffs. That could suggest that his direction could see Olympic Heights back in the win column sooner than later.

Olympic Heights by the numbers

There's been a revolving door for head coaches at Olympic Heights.

Marking the Lions' fifth hire since 2016, Pulaski enters after two seasons with Knight, who went out 1-9 in 2022. The new coach inherits a fairly young squad, set to be stripped of such playmaking seniors as Army commit Parker Poloskey.

Olympic Heights' last winning record came in 2017, finishing 5-4 under now-Jupiter Christian coach Baz Alfred.

Alfred took over a 7-3 program from Chris Kokell when the Fort Pierce-Westwood coach stepped away from the team after two seasons.
