Olympic National Park will reopen the popular Hurricane Ridge area next week after a fire destroyed the Hurricane Ridge Day Lodge last month.

The area will reopen June 27. There will be no indoor spaces available for shelter, and no drinking water will be available. Portable toilets will be available.

The fire remains under investigation, the National Park Service said, noting that the lodge area is fenced in and closed to the public for safety reasons.

The National Park Service said Hurricane Ridge Road access will be limited from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and to 315 vehicles per day because of restroom capacity. The parking area can support 175 vehicles at a time. Once capacity is reached for a day, the road will close to private vehicles.

The lodge was built in 1952 and had been closed for renovations when it burned down on May 7.
