The OMG Girlz are back after an eight-year hiatus. Zonnique Pullins, Bahja Rodriguez and Breaunna Womack released a new single, “Lover Boy,” now available on all streaming platforms.

The girl group disbanded in 2015 after growing a dedicated fan base and releasing hit singles such as “Gucci This (Gucci That)” and “Where The Boys At?” They have recently been in the news after T.I. and Tiny (who helped put the group together) filed a lawsuit against MGA Entertainment, accusing the company of stealing the girl group’s name, image and likeness for a line of toys.

The OMG Girlz said the lawsuit is what prompted them to reunite. The trio started talking about a reunion in January.

“We obviously had an invested interest where we were fighting against this big corporation that had stolen our image and our likeness. And while we were in the midst of that, we just really saw the impact that we have,” Bahj told EUR. “We just felt like… excuse me, now would be the perfect time to give our fans this record, which is something that they really wanted for a long time.”

Zonnique added that the trio has stayed in touch throughout the years and considers each other like family.

“We’re just excited to see where it goes,” she said. “I’m really excited to see us get back on stage personally. I feel like that’s one of our strong points. So I’m excited to see how that’s going to go for us because we always have a great time on stage together.”

The OMG Girlz plans to perform for their fans at shows and wants to start recording new music.

This is “the beginning of the process of us getting everything back together,” Zonnique said.

They aim to work with new producers and experiment with different music genres, although they want to stay truthful to their R&B roots. Now that they’ve all grown up, they say their music will be more mature and take on themes that echo their daily lives.

“People can see that when it comes to more of our music with… they can get an older version of us,” Breaunna stated. “Still like to dance, have some vibes to dance and then some heartfelt music and stuff like that.”

Getting a No. 1 single is their biggest goal.

“I think that’s something that we really, really want and something that we feel we really deserve with all the hard work we put in. So we’re definitely aiming for that,” Bahja said.
