A once-troubled Vacaville youth's firefighter goals, and the educator who inspired her
Avery Pepin is a Vacaville High School graduate who never dreamed of being a firefighter growing up, but you can now find her every day at a fire station. The 20-year-old is in the last leg of training for the Vacaville Fire Exploratory program. However, her vision of helping people in the future was not always so clear. Pepin described herself growing up as "defiant and kind of lost." Reminiscing about her high school brings up a mixed bag of emotions.
