One arrested after Canton drug raids

CANTON – Law enforcement officers with warrants searched two homes in the city Thursday, arrested one man on a felony drug trafficking charge and seized about seven ounces of a fentanyl-related compound, a gun and cash, according to a statement by the Stark County Sheriff's office.

The sheriff's Metro Narcotics Unit, Canton Police's Vice unit and FBI Safe Streets Task Force performed the searches in the 2100 block of Third Street SE and in the 900 block of 14th Street NW.

A sheriff's arrest report said officers found about 185 grams of the fentanyl-related compound and a Smith and Wesson pistol at the Third Street SE home.

A 36-year-old man who lives at the 14th Street address was arrested at the Third Street location around 3 p.m. on the felony drug trafficking charge as part of an "extensive drug trafficking investigation," the sheriff's office said.
