One of Bakersfield Christmas Parade crash victims is Purple Heart veteran

Dec. 11—The 77-year-old man injured during Thursday's Bakersfield Christmas Parade crash is a Purple Heart recipient who served in Vietnam, retired as a detective from the Los Angeles Police Department and volunteered for the United Farm Workers union.

A news release issued Monday evening by the Law Office of Chain — Cohn — Clark said Arnold Rios, a father of three and grandfather of nine, was getting ready to enjoy the parade with his wife, Candace, when he was run over, along with two others, by a motorist suspected of driving under the influence.
