One dead and another seriously injured in rural Fresno County collision, CHP says

One person died and another suffered major injuries in a rural Fresno County crash north of Caruthers, the California Highway Patrol said Tuesday.

The fatal collision happened about 11 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Dinuba and West avenues, where a Nissan Ultima and a GMC truck collided and ended up in an orchard, CHP spokesperson Mike Salas said.

He confirmed one person had died.

Officers called in a helicopter to transfer the other driver, CHP said.

One of the vehicles ended up on its roof, CHP said.
