One dead after crash south of Wamego

WAMEGO (KSNT) – One person is dead in a single-vehicle crash on K-99 south of Wamego.

The Kansas Highway Patrol Troop B of Pottawatomie County confirmed the crash was on K-99 south of I-70. Dispatchers said the scene has since been cleared.

At 5:50 a.m., 51-year-old Jerry Anstey of Alma was driving a 2006 Ford Focus north when he left the road to the right. Anstey overcorrected and went back onto the road. He crossed the center line and left the road to the left; facing south.

Anstey hit a rock embankment on the passenger side. The vehicle flipped onto the driver’s side, ejecting Anstey from the vehicle. The vehicle came to rest on the driver’s side. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
