One dead in fiery Upper Freehold crash

UPPER FREEHOLD−A driver was killed following a one-vehicle crash on Jonathan Holmes Road in the township Wednesday morning, state police said.

New Jersey State Police Sgt. 1st Class Lawrence Peele said the preliminary investigation shows that a Mercedes Benz went off the roadway about 10:40 a.m., hit a tree and and burst into flames. The driver died at the scene, he said.

Peele offered no further details.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
