FISHERSVILLE — Virginia State Police said one person was killed in a crash Tuesday morning in Fishersville, a press release said.

The crash took place at 8:33 a.m. at the intersection of Tinkling Spring Road and Ramsey Road.

Police said a 2019 Nissan Altima was headed south on Tinkling Spring Road when it reportedly failed to stop for a red light. The Nissan entered the intersection and collided with a 2005 Toyota Corolla that was going east on Ramsey Road, the release said.

The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to run off the road into a ditch and up an embankment. The driver, Brenda K. Diaz-Villalobos, 68, of Staunton, died at the scene. She was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Nissan, Christopher S. Allen, 37, of Nellysford, was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Police said charges are pending.
