One dead following Turner County crash

Jun. 26—LENNOX — A one-vehicle crash that occurred on Friday in Turner County has left a woman dead.

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, the 78-year-old driver lost control of her 2004 Pontiac Grand Am around 12:30 p.m. Friday while traveling eastbound on 279th Street near Lennox. After the driver — whose name has not been released pending family member notifications — lost control on the gravel road, she rolled into the ditch.

The 78-year-old female driver, who was the only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the state Department of Public Safety.

South Dakota's Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
