One dead after Kansas head-on collision with semi truck Saturday night

A man is dead after a head-on collision that happened Saturday in Gray County, Kansas Highway Patrol crash logs show.

That man was identified as 44-year-old Alegandro Santiago of Deming, New Mexico, the report said.

The crash was reported around 8:57 p.m. along U.S. 50, about two miles west of Ingalls, Kansas. Santiago was heading west on U.S. 50 in a 2005 Dodge Durango, when for unknown reasons Santiago went left into oncoming traffic and struck a semi that was heading east on U.S. 50, the log said.

Santiago was taken to St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City where he died from his injuries around 2:38 a.m., the log read.

The driver of the semi truck, 37-year-old Rudy Klassen of Copeland, Kansas, was not injured in the wreck. Klassen had two children with him who were also not injured, according to the report.
