One dead, one injured after fatal rollover crash near Humboldt

Oct. 30—HUMBOLDT TOWNSHIP, S.D. — One person died and another was injured following a one-vehicle rollover crash on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Authorities responded to a rollover crash at approximately 12:25 p.m. after a Minnehaha County Sheriff's Deputy discovered a one-vehicle wreck near the intersection of 457 Avenue and 260 Street.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a beige Chevy Tahoe was traveling north on 457 Avenue. The vehicle lost control and entered the west ditch, rolling and ejecting on person. One person died on scene and the other passenger was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Names have not yet been released pending the notification of family members.

Information regarding seatbelt use has not yet been released.

South Dakota Highway Patrol and Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the crash. All information released thus far is only preliminary.
