Two dead, two injured in weekend Baltimore shootings, police say

Two men died and two others were injured in separate shootings in Baltimore on Saturday and Sunday, police said.

The fatal shootings occurred late Saturday morning in Baltimore’s Central Park Heights neighborhood and Sunday evening in West Baltimore’s Penn North neighborhood, police said.

At about 10:40 a.m., Northwest District patrol officers heard a gun discharge coming from Park Heights Avenue and Spaulding Avenue. They found a 52-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds in the 3100 block of Spaulding.

The man was transported to Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 11 a.m.

Homicide detectives are investigating this death. Police identified him Monday as Wayne Martin.

A 43-year-old man who was driving a vehicle was critically injured in a Sunday shooting near the border of Sandtown-Winchester and Penn North, police said. He died at a local hospital, police said Monday.

Police were called at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday to a ShotSpotter gunfire alert in the 1700 block of North Carey Street in West Baltimore. A short time later, officers arrived at the scene of a vehicle crash at Pennsylvania Avenue and West North Avenue, where they found the 43-year-old driver suffering from gunshot wounds.

Earlier Saturday, a man was seriously injured in a shooting in Baltimore’s Forest Park neighborhood.

At about 5 a.m., officers responded to a call for a man in distress in the 3300 block of Chelsea Terrace. Upon arrival, they found Baltimore City medics treating a 38-year-old man for gunshot wounds to his neck and torso.

The victim was transported to a hospital, where he is in serious condition.

Later on Sunday, a 25-year-old man walked into a hospital seeking treatment for a graze gunshot wound to his inner right leg, police said.

Officers were called to the hospital at about 9:05 p.m. The man told police he was shot in the 5900 block of Radecke Avenue in Cedonia in East Baltimore, while walking from his home to his car.
