One dead in Route 46 motorcycle crash in Woodland Park

A 72-year-old man died Sunday when his motorcycle crashed into a light pole after veering off Route 46, a spokesperson for the Woodland Park Police Department said.

The man, who was not publicly identified by authorities, crashed into the pole, which is in a parking lot just off Route 46 west, at 3:39 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities are investigating to determine the cause of the crash. No other vehicles were involved, police said.

The parking lot where the crash occurred belongs to a Mattress Firm store near the border between Woodland Park and Little Falls, just east of the Passaic River.
