One dead in shooting at local nightspot

One person is dead following a reported shooting at the Haystack Club in the 300 block of Scott Avenue early Monday.

According to Wichita Falls Police spokesman Sgt. Charlie Eipper, officers received a report of an assault with a weapon just moments after midnight. The victim, 34-year-old Cordera Sherrard Walker, was found in the parking lot.

Police taped off the area and medical personnel were at the scene. Witnesses told the Times Record News the victim was shot in the chest.

Police are asking anyone with information about this murder to call WFPD Crime Stoppers at 940-322-9888 or the police non-emergency number 940-720-5000.

According to their Facebook page, Wichita Falls Crime Stoppers has made this a FRESH-48 meaning, "any information received in the first 48 hours that leads to an arrest of the person or persons responsible will receive an additional $500 for a total of up to $3,000."

"The WFPD is confident that this is an isolated incident and our citizens are safe," said Eipper.

Crimes against persons Sgt. Brian Sheehan said this the 10th homicide in Wichita Falls this year.
