One dead after shooting in Moss Point, Coast coroner says

A man found Thursday morning in Moss Point died from a gunshot wound, Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynd Jr. said.

Lynd Jr. said he could not confirm the time of the shooting but that he had just left the scene after police finished investigating about 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

The shooting occurred on the corner of Dutch Bayou and Elder Ferry Road, Lynd Jr. said.

Lynd Jr. said he has identified the victim, but will notify the family before releasing information publicly.

Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley did not immediately respond to call Thursday afternoon.
