One dead after sleepless Kyiv hit with biggest Russian drone attack of war

Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv for over five hours during the night as there were several waves of attacks.

The work of air defence was heard in all the capital's districts while 40 enemy drones were downed over the city.

There were victims and damage reported in three districts.

In Holosiivskyi District:

  • A civilian was killed and another was taken to hospital due to fragments of the intercepted drone falling on a seven-storey utility building.

  • Another person was injured after a 1,000 sq. m (10,800 sq. ft) product warehouse caught fire. The blaze was promptly extinguished.

  • The roof of a shopping mall and a building site were also set ablaze.

The roof of a residential building was set on fire in Pecherskyi District.

Windows were shattered and a door damaged in a store from falling drone debris in Darnytskyi District.

The drones were launched from the north - Russia's Bryansk Oblast - and from the south - Russia's Krasnodar Krai - while targeting military objects and crucial infrastructure facilities, according to the Air Forces report.
