One dead, two injured following t-bone crash outside Sioux Falls

Oct. 20—SIOUX FALLS — One woman has died and two others were injured in a two-vehicle collision northeast of Sioux Falls on Wednesday, Oct. 20.

Authorities responded at approximately 8:59 p.m. to reports of a two-vehicle crash about five miles northest of Sioux Falls.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2013 Hyundai Elantra was eastbound on 258 Street when it failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with South Dakota Highway 11. The vehicle collided with a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse that was northbound on South Dakota Highway 11.

The 64-year-old female driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 53-year-old female driver of the Traverse sustained serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported via ambulance to a Sioux Falls hospital. The 44-year-old male passenger in the Traverse received minor injuries.

Names of the three people involved have not yet been released pending notification of family members.

All three people involved were wearing seatbelts.

South Dakota Highway Patrol will continue to investigate the crash. All information released thus far is only preliminary.
