The Chiefs’ game Sunday in Frankfurt, Germany, showed that quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a global following.

German fans were thrilled to see Mahomes and the Chiefs beat the Dolphins, 21-14. The 50,023 people at Deutsche Bank Park weren’t all from Germany, of course. A number of fans from Kansas City made the trip, and there was one high-profile Frenchman in the stands.

It was Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, who helped France win the 2018 World Cup and make the 2022 final.

Griezmann made a point of meeting with Mahomes after the game, and they swapped jerseys.

Griezmann, who has scored 44 goals in 124 matches with the French national team, could be in Kansas City in 2026. That’s when the next World Cup will be held and Kansas City is one of the host cities, so maybe another Mahomes-Griezmann meeting will take place.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce also came away with a sweet souvenir as he was gifted an Eintracht Frankfurt jersey.
