Messy, messy, messy. Yet another Bachelorette contestant has been exposed as a guy with shady intentions. The Bachelorette‘s Jed Wyatt had a girlfriend when he met Hannah, and we don’t know what to think. We know this thanks to an interview with his ex-girlfriend who claimed that she and Wyatt were dating until the night he left for The Bachelorette. Naturally, Wyatt’s motives for the show have been exposed as super shady, and his ex isn’t pleased with the way he treated her.

In an interview with People, Nashville musician Hayley Stevens spoke about her past relationship with Wyatt and the egregious way he treated her until the end of their relationship. The couple had been dating for four months when Wyatt was jetting off to Los Angeles to film The Bachelorette. Stevens shared with People, “We spent the night together the night before he headed to L.A.He told me [the show] was just an obstacle and we’d be stronger on the other side because of it.”

Yikes!

Stevens also explained Wyatt’s intentions for going on the show, which he explained to her at the start of their relationship. Naturally, Wyatt’s wasn’t here for the right reasons, according to her. “He told me [early on] that he had applied,” Stevens said. “He said, ‘It’s probably not going to happen, but it’s a huge opportunity. I’m only doing this for my music.’ He only did it for his career.”

Stevens continued, “He wanted a platform. He kept telling me, ‘I don’t want my dad to have to help me pay rent anymore.’ He said he only wanted to be top five … to be a major player so that it would be beneficial.”

Wyatt did admit to that huge piece of information on a recent episode of The Bachelorette, where he told Brown on a one-on-one date: “When I signed up for the show, I was so clueless. I was open to the idea because I love love. I do, I love the idea of it. But my first thought was this is like a huge platform, and I just want you to know the truth. So I came in with that mindset, but every moment that we’ve had has taken that away and shown me that now more than anything I want to be with you.”

Things didn’t go well once the show finished filming and Wyatt landed in L.A. Stevens apparently became comfortable with the idea that Wyatt was on The Bachelorette there to promote his career and wouldn’t actually fall in love with Brown. But after Wyatt surrendered his phone during the filming of The Bachelorette, Stevens was left nervous. So she resorted to checking spoiler accounts as Wyatt played the game.

“I was terrified that he would fall in love with Hannah,” she told People. “In the beginning, I felt bad [watching the show] because I thought he loved me and was faking dating her. But then I thought, my boyfriend could be engaged to someone else. Seeing him kissing her for the first time was the worst day.”

Stevens told People she was surprised to learn Wyatt had returned to Nashville and never called her. She tried to confront him about essentially ghosting her and not being entirely honest. Folks, it didn’t go well.

After bumping into one another at a Nashville music venue, Steven confronted him. “He said, ‘Hey how have you been?’ and I said, ‘How do you think I’ve been?’ I asked him, ‘You didn’t think I deserved a phone call?’ And he said, ‘I didn’t know what to say.’”

Though no pictures of Stevens and Wyatt are featured on their social media, there issomewhat e of a confirmation of their relationship based on two photos they posted from what looked like a couples trip to the Bahamas. Both photos were uploaded to their respective Instagrams on February 20 and appear to show the same beach. The former lovebirds aren’t photographed together, but between the location in the pics and the timing, it checks the boxes of a confirmed relationship.

Though Stevens somewhat suspected things would turn out this way, she still sounds disheartened by how it all went down.

“As it got closer to the end, I was preparing myself,” she concluded. “I thought it probably wasn’t going to work out. But the hardest part is that he ghosted me. He loved me, but he didn’t have enough respect for me to have that tough conversation.”

Neither Wyatt nor anyone connected to The Bachelorette commented on Stevens’s story at time of publication.
