One hoisted in serious condition after avalanche near Big Cottonwood Canyon

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — One person was hoisted in serious condition Monday afternoon after an avalanche near Big Cottonwood Canyon, according to Unified Police.

Four people were caught in an avalanche at Little Water Peak Monday afternoon. Three were able to ski out while a fourth individual was injured.

Utah representative suffers medical incident in House chamber

A Dept. of Public Safety helicopter responded to the scene to hoist out the injured skier. Police reported their condition as serious.

Police said the avalanche was human-triggered.
