One hospitalized, one arrested after daylight stabbing in Brighton

A man was hospitalized after a daytime stabbing in Brighton on Tuesday.

Officers responded to 15 Fidelis Way shortly after noon and found an adult man suffering from a stab wound, according to Boston police. The victim was rushed to the hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

The suspect, who was identified as Darrell Murchison, 59, was arrested shortly after, according to police. It is unclear if the victim and the suspect knew each other.

Police could be seen sectioning off a large area around the Brighton Cafe on Commonwealth Avenue with yellow crime scene tape. A black knit hat could also be seen lying on the sidewalk.

Murchison was charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, police say. He will be arraigned in Brighton District Court.

An investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
