Juvenile charged with murder in fatal Cumberland County shooting Saturday night

A juvenile has been charged with first-degree murder in a shooting Saturday night in Cumberland County that left one man dead and another person injured.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, Darian Dale Barton, 21, of Fayetteville, died in the shooting reported at 8:47 p.m. in the 200 block of Indian Drive off Clinton Road.

"The preliminary investigation revealed two adult victims had been shot, one victim was transported to a local hospital for injuries and the other victim was pronounced deceased at the scene," a news release said.

The name of the survivor was not released.

The Sheriff's Office said the juvenile suspect is in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
