One killed in ATV crash near Colman, authorities uncertain on when crash took place

Aug. 26—COLMAN, S.D. — One man died in a one-vehicle crash that was reported Wednesday morning south of Colman.

At approximately 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, authorities in Moody County were called to the intersection of 237th Street and 470th Avenue, roughly two miles south of Colman, for a report of a single-vehicle ATV crash.

Preliminary crash information released by the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates that a 2019 Polaris Ranger ATV was eastbound on 237th Street when the vehicle left the roadway, entered the ditch and came to rest against a barbed wire fence.

The 48-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the person involved has not yet been released pending notification of family members.

While the crash was reported at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, authorities aren't certain when exactly the crash occurred.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
