One killed in Bessemer house fire; Pueblo police and fire investigators on scene

Pueblo police and fire investigators are probing the cause of a blaze that led to the death of one adult in the Bessemer neighborhood early Friday morning.

Firefighters and police were called to the home in the 1600 block of Palmer Avenue just before 5:30 a.m., said Roger Schneider, crime prevention officer for Pueblo police. When they arrived, the home, located behind the main house on the property, was engulfed in flames.

Investigators were still on scene Friday morning working to determine the cause of the fire, according to a Tweet from the Pueblo Fire Department.

"They got the fire out fairly quickly and then called out fire investigators along with our investigators," Schneider said.

More details will be released when they become available, he said.
